More than a century ago, S. Duncan Black and Alonzo G. Decker scraped together $1,200 to open a small machine shop in Baltimore, MD. Six years later, they would file a patent for the 1/2-inch portable electric drill and almost single-handedly create the power tool industry. Today, Black & Decker is one of the most recognizable tool brands in the world.
