Vaughan

Vaughan

As with most great American companies, Vaughan & Bushnell Manufacturing Co. was started with a vision and a lot of hard work. Alexander Vaughn saw a need for an improved post auger and set out to build it, patenting his design in 1869. His burgeoning business was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, but he didn't give up. In fact, he used it as an opportunity to branch out, making hammers, nippers, pliers and wrecking bars. Nearly 150 years later, the company is still making durable, reliable tools in the USA.
